The recent outbreak of the coronavirus has taken the entire world by a storm. With around 200,000 cases and increasing by the minute, all around the globe, most governments have taken drastic measures to protect their people from a further spread of the virus.

The worst cases that we’ve seen are in China and Italy. Towns and cities have been put on lockdowns. People are stuck in their homes for weeks, with their businesses shut down, trapped without much food or money.

In times like these, when the world is going through a phase of collective despair, helplessness and ambiguity, it’s tough to keep a positive mindset and live through the crisis with a happy mood.

Nevertheless, people are trying to make the most of this situation by looking at the positives as they get to spend more time with their families and contemplate on how they’ve been so used to being in a pattern of life, that any slight change is almost impossible to digest.

People are now being asked to stay indoors in many other countries as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the virus. Recently Germany closed its borders for people coming in, Pakistan announced a 15-day semi lockdown in one of their four provinces and numerous other countries like Spain, America etc., are taking the same measures.

In this article, we’ll be talking about some of the best things that you can do while you’re trapped in your house, safe from the virus, so you can use your time productively and make the most of the given situation.

1. Workout & Exercise Programs

Gyms have also been closed down just like most other things, and all the gym-goers are feeling lifeless and unproductive. Moreover, people are also generally feeling unproductive due to the lack of exercise or the freedom of at least walking around and leaving their homes.

To overcome that, you can start workouts at your home. There are countless videos on Youtube that can guide you and allow you to have a proper workout or yoga sessions at home. Doing that will get the blood flowing through all your muscles, and it’ll make you more active and alert.

2. Pick Up A New Hobby

We don’t think there’ll be a better time to pick up a new hobby than right now when you’re stuck in your house with nothing to do. There’s so much that you can start doing.

Learn How To Play An Instrument

If you have a guitar or any other instrument that you don’t really get time to experiment, you can focus on getting better at that and learning how to play, while you have the time.

Reading helps a lot in building up your intellect and also in making your mood better. If you have been unable to make some room for reading books in your busy schedule, then now is the time to catch up on all your favorite books.

3. Learn a New Skill

You can also invest the time spent in quarantine to great use by learning some new skill.

If you ever wanted to try cooking, now is the best time to start experimenting as your mother/wife/sister is most likely to be in your house too, to help you out. If not, you can always get Youtube’s help and be a master chef.

Arts & Crafts

With whatever is going on around you, it’s impossible not to have different thoughts, fears and judgements about our world, the people in it and the power of nature. You can take those thoughts and showcase them on a canvas and explore your creative side.

4. Binge Watch Your Favorites

Most office workers or students with busy schedules mostly get time to watch shows over the weekends. But since most of us are now confined to our homes with ample amount of time to spare, we can use it to watch our favorite shows as that will put us in a great mood.

5. Pray

If you aren’t religious or haven’t thought about praying, then now might be the best time to rekindle your relationship with God and invest at least some time in praying, seeking guidance and a solution to the problems that we are facing collectively, as one nation.

With over 8000 deaths so far all across the world, we should learn from the unfortunates and stay indoors at all costs. It might be annoying and uneasy for many people. Still, it’s important to remember that every one of us is playing a significant role in either containing or dispersing this virus.  For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please visit the CDC website

So, to ensure your personal safety, the safety of your loved ones and even the strangers around you, don’t unnecessarily go out of the house, try to keep a positive head, keep hoping for the best and it will inevitably happen.
